Artivism is arts in action;

it marries art and activism to address issues of social, economic, environmental, racial and criminal injustice. Using the arts as a tool to express ourselves and to create real world action enables us to give voice to injustice. We bring awareness to concerns that affect our community and world and we provide space for action and healing.

AIMe is a natural offshoot of the Belfast Creative Coalition and a response to the Waldo County Arts and Cultural Plan.

The plan’s goals are:

A. Sustain and grow the region’s creative community

B. Bolster art activism to support the quality of life

C. Promote connections between coastal and inland cultural resources

D. Increase accessibility to cultural offerings

By creating actions through the arts AIMe seeks to include all of Waldo County to meet these goals.
